The Dalmore 12-Year-Old is recognized as a whiskey with character far beyond its age. The spirit is initially matured in American white oak ex-Bourbon casks, yielding soft vanilla and honey notes. A proportion of the spirit is then finessed in pinnacle Sherry casks, including 30-year-old Matusalem Oloroso casks, exclusive to The Dalmore, to give the whiskey a rich, nutty character. The two styles are then reunited to create an outstanding single malt.
This dual maturation process gives the whiskey an aroma of caramelized oranges, apples, plums, and marzipan. Notes of citrus, toffee, and cinnamon dominate the palate and are complemented by sweet undertones of vanilla, coffee, and cake. The finish is long and sweet, with hints of apricots, cherries, and vanilla. Dalmore's 12-year-old earned the Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and scored 91 points from the Beverage Testing Institute.
